I've wondered, since the moment I caught this image
of a Heron and the Rejoice,
was it placed there just so I could say,
Rejoice, a Heron
They are amazing birds and thankfully
common to Western Washington.
heron
noun
a large fish-eating wading bird
with long legs,
a long S-shaped neck and
a long pointed bill.

This is so fine. You know how to call them up, don't you? These images. Thank God for you. You see.
Thank you Teresa. It was a moment suspended. Kindly, long enough to make a few images, before the rain drove us away. Unlike the camera lens, the rejoice and the heron simply embraced it.
"You see", you said. My husband was standing behind me, silently wondering why so many shots and positions? When I settled into this spot, he watched the captures on the screen and simply said, "Ah, I see".
And so we do, in stillness.
Must admit, I don't have the patience of you and Ansel Adams (no pressure on you or anything). So once a decade I get a decent shot. But your "Rejoice, a Heron" is setting me up for a punworthy photo, which will appear after my next visit to a vegetarian or vegan cafe.
Perfect and captured so beautifully. I never get tired of watching these beautiful creatures. I don't know if I ever told you about the year that Granddad passed away and a blue heron kept coming on the dock in Canada all summer long. We had never had a blue heron on the dock while people were there, so we know it must have been Granddad checking on all of us. Now when ever we see a blue heron we just wave and say hi to Granddad!
Prof Geo,
Well, no doubt that will be the only time my name and Ansel Adams will be mentioned in the same sentence. And...ahem, I suspect you exhibited lots of patience when you were doing wedding work with your dad. For the record, I happen to know you have taken many good pictures. Love the new Hawaii shots. Now Sir Punster, on the vegetarian version of "Rejoice, a Heron", do me a kindness and leave tofu out. Gives me the creeps for some reason.
Hugs,
Chris
Hi BG,
Thanks so much. No, I don't think I knew the story about the heron connection to granddad. Sure fits with all the great stories about him and ultimately, the land (environmental) protections he made possible at the bay. You may have me talking to herons now. Passing on your hellos.
Hugs,
Chris
