Tacoma Art Museum

Tacoma Art Museum architecture is one of the allowable things to photograph. I love the building and what it does for the art. It's previous location was a turn of the century building down the street. It was fine but their collections and shows have been a good fit with this new design. The upstairs area (as seen in one of the photos from the previous post) has rooms off to the right. One is an open workspace for visitors to play a bit. Another is a large studio for classes and visiting resident artists. Wonderful spot for working with tons of light coming into the room from two walls of windows, floor to ceiling. "Rentable" she says with wiggling eyebrows.

Remember when we were going to bag it all, especially during all those special sections and double issues of the paper during the holidays and become artists to make our living? Well, I think you are on the right track! The space sounds wonderful!

Lets see...we would be gearing up for that double issue right about now. The memory, even from this great distance, is exhausting. Hope I don't spring awake tonight freaking over a non-existent missed deadline! Or insert.

Too bad it's just as, or more, difficult to make a living as an artist in this day and age as it was then.
Which reminds me of something I've been meaning to bring to the blog this month...

Here's hoping folks who are gift giving this season will consider making or sharing the handwork of others. Or, consider gifting through Kiva or Heifer on behalf of those on your list.
